We are looking at doing another shirt drive which goes to supporting our region and making you look great! You've probably seen our SC&T Region shirts worn by many of our Rovers and now is your chance to grab one! Shirts are $30 each and come in sizes S-XXL. Or if you want to buy region gear in a different form we will also be selling SC&T Rovers stubby holders for $8 each! Bargain! Stubby holders will soon be available for purchase at RRC's and at our SC&T Moot.

If you would to try on the shirt sizes before you buy, contact Rosie O'Meley (email below).

Inter-Crew Challenge/Hike for Hunger 2014

Every year NSW Rovers runs Hike for Hunger (H4H). This is a simple collection of food cans to feed the homeless through Wesley mission. The race is on again this year too see how many cans we can collect. Last year we collected 500, this year we're aiming for 1000 cans.

The inter-crew challenge has been set for the month of August and it's to collect as many cans as possible. The cans will be counted at a gathering in September. For now start collecting cans from your group, or have a collection at a local shopping centre. More details on promotional material and this challenge can be passed on by contacting Peter Zuiderwyk.

Snowcraft Weekend

10 Rovers from two Crews gathered in the Snowy Mountains a few weeks back for a weekend of exploring in the Back Country. A good time was had by all, Saturday's weather was perfect, whilst Sunday's proved a little challenging. It would be fantastic to see more Rovers take up these opportunities into the future... Who knows for how many more years Australia will actually receive snow!

Rover Introductory Course

Most of the Squires of the Region have now attended a Rover Introductory Course, thanks largely to the efforts of Nighty (he has run 5 or 6 of them now). In future they will be run on an as-needed basis, whenever we have five participants. If you, or any Squires in your Crew, need to attend a course to complete Squire Training, please get in contact with Greg or Nighty.

Child Protection

All Rover Advisers and Crew Leaders recently received an email in regards to changes that Scouts NSW is making to the way it handles Child Protection. This includes the fact that every Leader (and Rover that is a Leader) needs to complete a new A1 Form and send it to Kerrie at RegionOffice. Every Adult (Leader and Rover) also needs to complete an eLearning Module on Child Protection. Hopefully these facts have already been discussed at Crew level and you are sorting through a process to facilitate same. If you have any questions on these most important issues, please contact Greg immediately.

Commissioner's Corner

Unsurprisingly Nighty has jetted off for another two months of travelling in Europe, including some fantastic sounding hiking, jealous! This puts me back in the hot seat again. There are a number of upcoming events listed above that I urge you all to get behind, there are also a couple of issues that I have listed separately that need the attention of every Rover in the Region. With Spring now upon us the Jamborette and WWG-North are fast approaching. Both of these events provide not only an avenue for Service, but invaluable exposure to Rovering for the lower Sections. It'd be great to see the continued strong support by Rovers of these events. AJ2016 is also getting very close. I have sent out two emails now in regards to the event, again it would be great to see a strong contingent of SCAT Rovers.

Sadly eight out of the ten Crews in the Region are currently behind in paying their Membership Fees, some of you are well behind. Please get this rectified urgently, as Region Office is not particularly happy.

On a lighter note, how are you all going with your can collections for Hike For Hunger? Which Crew will collect the most cans and win the Inter Crew Challenge? Get in and have a real go!
