SC&T Rovers - May 2014 Newsletter

Welcome to the first SC&T Rover Newsletter!

What's all this? The Region Rover Council recently agreed to create monthly newsletters to send to all South Coast & Tableland Rovers, letting everyone know of important dates, new information, and much much more. If you have any content you'd like included in a newsletter, please email it to webmaster@scatrovers.com.

Upcoming Events

Rover Introductory Course

The Rover Award Scheme now requires that each Squire attends a Rover Introductory Course as part of their Squire Training. Nighty has been in contact with each of the Southern Ranges Crews and will be presenting the course to each in the period around Wide Game South. For the Illawarra based Crews, the course will be run prior to each RRC Meeting, on an as needed basis. To this end, the first course will be run from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday 13th May.
If you, or anyone in your Crew, will be attending, please get in contact with Greg by Friday 9th May. Sorry for the short notice on this one, but we have only recently received the course outline and Nighty only prepared the content that we wish presented last weekend. The course will not have any cost associated with it.

SC&T Progressive Dinner

The theme for this year’s Progressive Dinner is casino theme! You're encouraged to dress in a formal style, similar to what you would wear to a casino. A ticket to the SC&T Casino will be $30, which includes all your food and travel for the night. You will have to register online and pay by cash or cheque at RRC or online by direct deposit.

We will be having a bus again this year that will be meeting at Bomaderry Hall at 5, Oak Flats station at 6pm, Wollongong station at 6:35pm & Thirroul Station at 7pm. Our fabulous night will kick off at 7:30 with canapés hosted by Austinmer Rovers, then will progress down south to end at Bomaderry Hall again, where guests are able to stay the night.

Rover Treasurers' Course

Thanks to Steve Thompson (RA – 4th Wollongong RC) we are very pleased to announce that on Wednesday 14th May, SC&T RRC will be running its first ever training course aimed directly at Crew (and RRC) Treasurers. We already have confirmation that five of the Region’s ten Crews will be in attendance. Whilst this is aimed at current Treasurers, those considering such a position in the future are also welcome to attend. The course will run from 6:30pm until about 9:30pm. The course will be run annually after the RRC AGM. The course will not have any cost associated with it.

Commissioner's Corner

With Nighty about to jet off on another overseas holiday, I look forward to once again taking the wheel and steering the ship. For the next two weeks he will have limited email access, not unlike myself for the last two. To this end, we do encourage that if you ever need to email one of us, CC the other, as we know each other’s movements! The new RRC Executive has really hit the ground running, and I have been especially impressed with their desire to facilitate smoother communications between Rovers, Crews and the RRC. To this end, I welcome you to the first edition of the SCAT Rovers e-Newsletter! Contained herein are several upcoming dates which are important, I urge you to read thoroughly and contact the relevant people if you require more details on anything. Well done to the many Rovers that attended Dragon Skin at Newnes. From all reports it was a surprisingly mild and dry event this year. It was also fantastic to see photos of so many of you out commemorating ANZAC Day last week.
